I am a BAD BAD girl!
Yes I am. Let me tell you why.
Some of you might remember my story of woe relating to my toilet disaster 'WHy women are crap at DIY'. Meanwhile I wrote a post here recently about my latest water works disaster!
I say in that post that I will not elaborate about my boiler as it's too painful! But now it has been resolved I feel duty bound to share this information.
Ok so this is the situation:
No heating or hot water for two whole weeks with maybe few hrs in entire period of functionality.
No less than SEVEN engineers from TWO different companies coming out to try and find the fault and repair my faulty boiler which is by the way less than two months old!!
While waiting for these engineers to call, I missed:
college
work
dance class
coffee morning
kids school
nursery
swimming
food shopping
Not to mention blo*dy baths!!!
The repairs conducted were as follows:
TWO new pumps, first failed so was replaced, this failed so was replaced.
ONE new circuit board (just in case that was the cause of the fault)
A new radiator valve
A complete flush of the system (this alone usually costs several hundred £'s!!)
Still my boiler was NOT working properly!!
Damn boiler!!
THEN
Engineer number 7 after fitting new pump and new circuit board asked me:
"Do all your radiators have thermostatic valves?"
"Yes" I replied.
"Well they shouldn't. One should NOT have a valve.
This is why your heating hasn't been working". Said the engineer.
He removed that 'spare' valve any presto, boiler working! Two long weeks of deprivation and finally it's working.
So readers, why was it that my rads all had a valve?
Well
When the the chap came to fit my new boiler I complained
about my
missing radiator valve.
So he kindly replaced it for me when he fitted the new boiler.
The end.
